Notes

Line 4 of the Shanghai Metro is Shanghai's only loop line. Yishan Road Metro Station is used as a terminus for partial services as well as for the last trains of the day.

Line 4 presently connects with Lines 1 and 2. A "virtual interchange" with Line 9 is available for users of the Shanghai Public Transportation Card at Yishan Road station. Future links with other lines are expected before the Shanghai 2010 World Expo. The line shares tracks with Line 3 from Baoshan Road through to Hongqiao Road.

Line 4 is colored dark eggplant on a map and in signage. Train livery is also dark eggplant to reflect on its route color.

Line 4, as a loop line, is already complete in full. However, the number of interchanges is expected to be added in numbers, making the number of non-interchange stations in the minority.

Opening by 2010 are links to Lines 7, 10 and 11.
